Hello Pat Instead of altering your Bass have you thought of buying a playing stand? I bought one to play BBb Bass which I find impossible to play without but I also often use it to make playing an EEb Bass easier. Most specialist brass shops should be able to get one for you . I thought mine was rather expensive at 85 pounds but probably still cheaper than altering the bass Hilary Mateer --
