Gerry. Found your input very interesting. Are you able to practice your sop parts in the cockpit ? Alternatively, as those "kites" are so big could you not take the rest of the band with you for rehearsals ? I hope you were not practicing today when taking off with my wife aboard your flying contraption. She has flown off and left me today after 47 years saying she cannot any longer compete with my cheap floosey of a flugel horn. I now have only the stray cat to keep me company and listen to me rehearse. Which brings me to an appeal for help. Having had the 'flu in recent days, ....relieved partly by whiskey....my lips are sore and swollen.....I cannot blow without pain and any higher than middle G. Our band (both of us) have an important rehearsal with the lady organist of the parish church on Friday for an equally important church service on Jan. 23 2000. Not wishing to "let down" the brass band movement of the U.K. has anyone suggestions for instant cure for blistered embouchure. ? I have tried Vaseline (mainly for my slides), etc. but panic is setting in. With best wishes. David Williams. P.S: just received e.mail from dear wife stating returning Sunday. She has just been looking after grandsons for a few days.! --
