Thanks to all who emailed off list and on with suggestions about the antique
sop. It seems to date somewhere between 1860 and1890 by all accounts. Now I
have another one for you! It's a rotary valve European flugel. It dates from
somewhere at the end of the 19thC. I'm auctioning it on the Net. If anyone
has any more precise details about where it came from and when I would like
to add them to the description. Photos etc. are at

P.S. I hope I'm not getting too off topic here...they ARE brass band
instruments.
