Dearest Flo,
It is with a great deal of sadness and a tear in my eye that I read your
news. When the good people of their Northern band first came to the attention
of the World Wide Web less than a week ago a point was being made (er, by
me). That point has, I think since been lost but we have luxuriated in the
memories of some stalwarts of our movement. When the history of brass bands
is written their place will be assured. Ernie can go back to his memories of
the days when everyone paid their subs, Arnie Postlethwaites family can
recall fondly his stories of days at the coalface and the whippets progeny
still romp on Ilkley Moor. And as for the Narrator of that story, whose first
encounter in the 21st century, after that extraordinary transmogrification
through space, was an email from Monkey; whatever happened to him?
