Agreed. But I think there a numerous people in banding who don't wear their
band's name on their sleeve. How many are in it for their own benefit? How many
have been proud to play for 'their' band throughout ups and downs and stayed
there through thick and thin?

I took the view of this original posting that the player was using bands as
stepping stones to reach his own goal. In my book that's not banding.
