Billy,
well said.  You've reminded us all that when bands first started out they
were pretty much pro. outfits with most (if not all) of the players employed
by the mine/factory that the band were affiliated to.  Fodens used to employ
the player, then find them a job sweeping up if they wanted him.  However as
we've moved on from this form of sponsorship to a band getting cash to spend
on whatever it likes, what's the difference ?
Very few people in banding make any serious money (unless you sell your own
brand of valve oils I believe ;-) ).
