There is an old farmer just out the back from where I live ( I think his name is Jones). I don't see much of him as he is always looking for work and I'm always looking to avoid it. But I digress. I bought this Euphonium last August and since the weather is usually nice around here till about late October I practised with the windows open. Well, I was talking to old Jones this morning (he's actually younger than I am but has been dissipated by work) and after offering me a turnip remarked that up until last fall he had been bothered by crows stealing his corn. He had made a scarecrow and dressed it in various styles and guises including that of a socialist but still the crows attacked his crop. "Waal" he said,"Since you started playing that thar bazooka horn there aint bin a crow 'round heer. 'n fac' some of 'em were so skeered they brung corn back that they'd stolen two years ago"! I relate this story just to give a few poor souls like me who think all of the practice in the world isn't helping, a little encouragement. Oh yes, if Dave Williams thinks this story is untrue I can prove it's veracity be showing him the turnip old Jones gave me. Play on brothers and sisters! BillW --
