This is one of my pet hates: surely, the correct term is "bandsman", not
bandsperson. Equality is one thing, but if a female player takes offence at
being referred to as a bandsman, then she must be of such unsound mind as to
take similar umbrage at the generic "huMAN".

In the same vein, firemen drive fire engines (as opposed to "appliances")
and chairmen chair board meetings! The abberation of such monikers to
appease the politically correct is no less preposterous than to describe a
manager as a "womanager"!

Let us endeavour to refrain from such semantic silliness, lest we should all
end up being avid readers of the "British Bandsperson".
