Funny yu should mention this Mike cos I always tune my bass by setting the
main slide to a scratch mark on the slide.
This has worked brilliantly for years but the cornets have been getting
sloppy lately!!!  Fortunately the 4th valve slide doesn't get much
water in so I rarely ever have to move that.
