What an excellent idea, Rob Mason. Long ago and far away, in a galaxy on the
other side of the known universe, bands used to play a hymn from the red
book before their test piece. Unfortunately, some bands felt that they
couldn't cope with the ambience of the hall during the hymn and it was
judged unfair on all bands to have to play a hymn, dry, in a contest hall.
So the practise was dropped.
