RE: Toenails

Monkey

Technical question -

Trombone players usually have overdeveloped muscles from the first joint to
the tips of their toes due to the need to balance the body from the
unnatural cantilever effect of the trombone slide. This muscle is trained to
stretch the toe out to provide a greater area and thus reduce the bearing
pressure. (One bone player I knew wore size 17 shoes - it was like marching
next to Bobo the clown.)

People who live in cyclone areas have toe muscles that curve the toes down
to get a greater grip on terra firma. (They also develop very large calf
muscles to take up all slack in the trouser legs and thus avoid the expense
of bicycle clips.)

Do trombone players who live in cyclone area develop curved toenails so they
can meet both demands?

Trust you survived cyclone Steve.
