I sadly heard on Monday that Murray Slater, MD of the Matlock Band, formerly
of Britannia Airways Band and Rhodian Brass, died suddenly last weekend.

Murray was a great advocate of the Youth Band movement, and encouraged many
players through his involvement with the Derbyshire County Youth Wind Band
and his extensive teaching in the Derbyshire Area.

I sure all other list members who knew Murray will join me in offering
condolences at what is a very sad time for all.
