The L&SC have the largest Fourth Section in the country. The Committee
fully realise the situation and are aware that it could be bigger if some of
the non-contesting bands decide to enter the contest. With the section
attracting 30+ bands again this year. full representation was made to the
NCC on bands behalf for the sections to be split. where it was quite
correctly pointed out that to split the sections into two, with the first
two placed bands in each section being considered for an invitation to the
National Finals would contravene the conditions of entry into the contest
and therefore the request was denied. The Committee will try again to alter
the situation and make the contest more manageable in the future.
