RE: The Joy of Marching



Nigel,

I would say from experience that the best place to place the solo cornets
for marching is at the rear - on the back line. There are two reasons for
this :
1. theie sound - being usually the strongest line & fairly high register
(not to mention often being some of the strongest cornet players) will
penetrate through the rest better than say back row cornets
2. This positioning allows the rest of the band to be able to hear the
melody line easily, thus making it easier to accompany/ play together.
