Dear list,

I have to say I take great objection to anyone who thinks that talent is not
a gift from God. Although I am not formally religious and don't go to
church, that is an expression of my distrust of organised religion and the
indoctrination which is usually involved. However, I do believe in God and
that any talent we possess is a gift, to be nurtured and developed and
allowed to grow. It's my job as a teacher to encourage young people not to
waste their talents.

God gave us the talent. We have the opportunity to make the most of it.
