Today a friend showed me a Mellophone.
It looked looked a half-starved french horn but you could change it's
pitch by pulling out slides to pre-determined notches on the slides.
I thought it was a great idea particularly for an old brain dead duffer
who plays along with a piano accompanist who refuses to transpose.
What ever happened to those wonderful inventions and why did they not
catch on?
Or weren't they so wonderful?
