I would agree with you on this one !

I don't think that anyone of the current band would go to Dyke and I would
like to think that Nick has enough respect for the band to not ask (which I
believe is true)

I'm a light hearted kind of guy.  As you can imagine I don't want to say too
much - I'm sure Nick will give his reasons in due time but I CAN say that
there has been no loss of friendship between the band and Nick.

Dyke are still seen as 'the band to be with' and therefore it's one of the
top conducting jobs.  It's a great challenge to turn the Dyke that exists
now into the all conquering monster that they were when I wanted to play for
them.  I still have a signed programme with McCann and Cloughs signatures
on - who in Dyke would you get to sign it now.  Dyke are a great band but
banding needs a greater Dyke. Nick wants to be the one to re-create that.
Simple as that !

The new MD will be announced first on the website (unless I get home from
rehearsal first !).
