Abbey. I got the impression that my enjoyment
of this test piece performance was not shared by all of the audience (the
chap in front of me kept getting up and going
for a walk during it!) >>
I listened to and enjoyed this performance but felt that the piece was
perhaps too long to keep the attention of the whole audience. Towards the
back of the Abbey there was certainly too much movement and noise to fully
appreciate it. Maybe Tallis Variations was a bold choice for a summer,
Saturday afternoon, a piece that I thought fitted the venue but possibly not
the occasion.
As ever this event remains a superb way of spending a Saturday.
