Although being a horn player for all of my four year brass
career, I'm switching over to trumpet on the side for some
orchestral work and a bit more flexibility (tenor horns
don't fit in most ensembles!). I've recently got my hands on
a Blessing trumpet, but unfortunatley the only mouthpiece
that it came with, although there is no make on it, measures
up to the same as a DW 5E (according to the DW measurement
charts) and i don't think that it's ideal to start out with
a "screamer" mouthpiece!!!
I'm currently on a DW2 (horn) and looking for a good
mouthpiece which wouldn't be too much of a struggle to adapt
to, (preferably a little deeper than my "screamer") so that
i might me able to sustain a note under fortissimo without
splitting it.
Bach mouthpieces have been suggested to me, but not which
size!!!
It's either a deeper mouthpiece or earplugs for the
neighbours, the mouthpiece seems the cheaper option!
