Dear List,
I am intrigued by the following extracts from two adjudicator's remarks from
the national finals. Both adjudicators were in the same box listening to the
same band:
Adjudicator 1 Adjudicator 2
1) Unsettled at the start - improves at A 1) Incisive to
open - Low brass could have better balance with high end though
2) Fair control of semiquavers before C 2) Descending
semis untidy (2 before C)
3) Balance of parts poor before K 3) Good crescs
4) Fair close 4) Super close
There were others. I know these remarks are taken out of context, but the
comments refer to the same sections of the music. At least you would think
so!
I also wonder if anyone else noticed that, throughout the contests, (except
perhaps the 4th section), the majority of placings came from bands that
played after the comfort break?
Don't tell me I'm paranoid!
