Isn`t this what is supposed to happen in a Championship band ?
Someone does the `donkey work` training the band and a professional comes in
and gets the glory. We recently tried to appoint a Resident Conductor (for
our 2nd Section band ) as we had someone in mind as a Professional/Semi-Pro.
We encountered problems finding someone of a high enough standard to act as
resident - most wanted to do the whole shooting match - which I can
understand.
We ended up with the person we had in mind as semi-pro doing the lot which
he is okay about. I`m sure things must be different in the Championship
section - especially, where money rears its head. Luckily, our band ended up
in a good position as we have the guy we wanted ALL of the time and he is a
damned good trainer and musician.
