I wrote to the bandsman two or three weeks ago asking that they consider doing a review on my pieces on the rtb site. I didn't think that it was TOO much of a cheek trying to get publicity that way. Especially as neither Rothwell or myself make anything out of this venture. As we don't make anything out of it it would seem a trifle unbrealistic too expect me to pay money in order to give something away. I didn't even get a reply to the suggestion. I suspect that if I had been one of the big names in banding or even a publsher who would maybe be paying for advertising that this would have been different. I understand the hard facts about commercial life (reputation goes to those with reputation as does money to those with money) but I would have thought that the decency of even a "Thanks but No thanks reply" would have been not too much to expect. Especially, as I would suspect , the BB would like to portray itself as having the interests of bands at heart. Perhaps this assumption is completely wrong and their real raison d'etre is as a mouthpiece for big bands big publishers and big composers. All the best Steve Watkins --
