The US Army Pershing's Own Brass Band is
 "professional" i.e. they get paid to play for a living
and they use Tenor horns.

The Hannaford Street Silver Band in Toronto is made up
largely of players form the Ballet and Opera orchestras
and they use tenor horns quite successfully. Their horn players
used to use adapters for French horn mouthpieces but now use
standard tenor horn equipment. F*%(^ Horn is a different colour but it's the
wrong one.
To start the bells face the wrong way which throws the balance off.
The F#%&$# horns do not have the sweet saxhorn sound that blends
with the Flugel and baritone/Euphonium.
