Sadly it is being considered here in Australia, but fortunately it
hasn't been approved as yet.

The following extract is from Muso's Media, an Australian Brass Band
magazine.

    Push for French horns, trumpets
    The NBC is canvassing state bodies to determine levels of support
for allowing
    trumpets and French horns to be played in brass band competitions.
Already
    Victoria has given its support. In our editorial, we come down
firmly against the move.

I guess its just an attempt to get more music students into brass
bands.
