Having acted as a contest secretary in a former band I appreciate the
irritation value, but the Area Contest is a massive undertaking, involving so
many bands. Whilst any set of rules will be abided by by most bands, there
always those who will sail close to the wind. A dates has to be set. We want
all bands starting on the same (if not equal) footing. You have known about
that deadline for some months and therefore why have you not dealt with this
issue in good time (I, also, have driven 100 mile round trips to get all of
the forms completed in the week before the contest deadline).
I do not want a contest such as this to be adversely affected by players who
can play for various bands on the day and affect the various results simply
because of the absence of a regulatory structure.
