I believe the 'we was robbed' attitude stems from the fact that we play a
contest piece for 5 or 6 weeks and have our conductors interpretation rammed
into us. We naturally believe that this is the only correct interpretation.
We here other bands and think "we're better than them" and are surprised
when they finish higher than us.

We must learn to trust the man in the box more, as 99 times out of 100 they
are very good professionals and try to give an honest result. After all he
is probably the only person in the hall who is not biased in any way.

How many times have you listened to other bands at a contest and thought
"they were better than us" - I know I seldom think that and I am trying to
be objective !
