re: Child Protection Policy

This is the setof guide lines provided by the band to all those who teach learners
These are based on consultation with the police and social services in york.

GUIDELINES FOR BAND MEMBERS WORKING WITH CHILDREN

These guidelines should be followed by all band members towards each other.

Band members should never be alone with a young person, so that there could be no doubt cast upon
their behaviour. Another adult, preferably of the other sex from you, should be present whenever
you are with a young person. This is especially important in the case of first aid.

All handling of children has to be positive.

The child must not be humiliated, frightened or embarrassed.

No physical chastisement should be used.

If, however you have raised your voice or restrained a child, for its own safety, or in a reflex
action to behaviour by the child, then you have to reassure that child . You should explain
immediately and publicly that you are not angry, but were worried and reacted .
