Some results from the 20th North American Brass Band Association Championships held April 12-13 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Results are from the NABBA website at www.nabba.org. I have only posted for the Championship, Honors (2nd highest), and Challenge (3rd highest) Sections. Each band's program is also listed. All bands present a program of 25 to 30 minutes which includes the set test piece. The test piece accounts for 60% of the total score, the choice piece(s) the remaining 40%. This year marked the first time that there was a tie between two bands. Normally, if total points are equal, the winner is the band that scored higher on the test piece. In this case, the Illinois Brass Band and the Brass Band of Columbus not only tied in total points, but also tied on the test piece. It looks like NABBA now has to establish a tie-tiebreaker for the future! -Lothian (who's still recovering from the Prairie Brass Band's victory party!!)
