HI, Nigel!
Of course, you are quite right about the band politics issue... I, for one,
would like to see politics go away, but that's wishful thinking.
Funny thing is, there were only two posts to which I think you are
referring: my off-hand mention of the creation of a new band in the Chicago
area, mentioning that the core of it has come from the two previously
existing bands... no mention of politics there, just a statement of fact.
The second post was a statement of support, and a mild personal opinion
about something that happened about a year ago to which there will be a
third post from me in agreement.
I don't think we've seen any internal band politics in these posts. If
anything, it was external band politics, as the response was from a person
who is not a member of any Chicago area band (to the best of my knowledge!)
I hardly think that this is a problem (yet!) You want controversy, how
about that discussion of a couple of years ago about women in
banding.........
Anyone from the other side of this issue is welcome to post... that is, of
course, what this forum is for: the free discussion of matters relating to
brass banding.
Of course, all statements made by me are my own opinion, and do not
necessarily represent the opinions of any sentient being in this universe.
