Actually, I have, Nigel. But don't forget the other two neglected souls.
The sop and the bass trombone.  Now I figure I know why the sop gets to sit
out so much but I've often suspected that arrangers were providing time for
them to worry themselves to death before that next impossible solo. The
bass trombone's a bigger mystery but, then again, maybe the reason is the
same as the percussion......a little goes a long way......;-)


And yes, as a tenor player I know somebody's sawing that limb I'm out on AS
I TYPE.   ;-)
