Just a comment on the Leidzen Biography, which I have. Mark Freeh
(brassman) gave a good example listing of Erik Leidzen's brass band works.
To use the book would mean just that, having practically a book for an
e-mail. I have to say from personally knowing the man, he was unique, and
it is my opinion (probably not just mine), that Leidzen was the consummate
Salvation Army arranger. I really enjoy the music of Heaton, Ball,
Steadman-Allen, and Goffin, to name a few, but for the "purpose" of
Salvation Army music, Leidzen was "The Man"! Mark mentioned Leidzen's
solos, and I believe them to be unequaled.
