There are some parts in GFC for sop you need to play
in the intro and interludes
and others that totaly suck canal water.
There is a completely stupid obligato after the intro
that really blows chunks. YOu only need to play along with the solo cornets
on their little arpegios.
I cannot imagine anyone actually playing it with a straight face.
It would make a good comedy section of a concert.
You could stop the band while the sop plays this dreck
and have the soloist walk over and
look at the sop part, rip it up and tell the audience
"It wasn't his fault"
Then restart.
Someone had a bad case of "arrangitus dementia"
NOt uncommon in sop parts.
