Re: Re: Brandenburg No.2

The Eulenburg Score, to which I previously referred, is the edition of 1985 (plate No. EE 6732) edited by Karin Stöckl and others. The preface interestingly deals with the contentious matter of trumpet or horn. Roger Fiske in his foreword to the previous Eulenburg edition also addressed the issue. It seems a case can be made for using a horn (sounding an octave lower than trumpet). The score and parts prepared by Penzel shortly after the death of Bach contain the indication "Tromba o vero corno da caccia" (trumpet or else hunting horn).
