The reduction in entries is probably a backlash from the intolerable
overcrowding of the last few years. The organisers at Stevenage have done
their best but with so many bands to get through in a day it makes things
very difficult. To be kept confined in a squash court and to be told that any
one making a sound would be disqualified does not lead to a relaxed
atmosphere. Add to that the difficulties Bands have in being certain of a
full team and it is no wonder numbers have fallen.
