Go for it...
An opportinity to play a Mahler symphony should not be missed..
If you're still not sure, listen to a recording of it..
I've played trumpet in Mahler 2 and Mahler 5

Playing brass in an orchestra is a lot different... You have to learn to
blend with different "families" of instruments... and in general (depending
on the size of the orchestra) you have reduce your dynamics a bit (maybe a
lot!!)
