we have a couple of players who "crawl out of the woodwork" (or sometimes
they are dragged out kicking and screaming !!).

while we are very glad that they play it is a little disappointing for the
"regular" players, who come every week, after the contest when they
disappear again.

an argument that often goes on is whether it is better to have "bums on
seats" at every rehearsal or to call on a couple of occasional better
players for contests.
