Howard cable a Canadian did the opposite. He has a fine concert band arrangement of
Newfoundland folk songs with a nice bone solo. When he rescored it for brass band,
he gave the solo to the first baritone.

How many concert bands do you know who have an english horn player?

Don't you just love composers and arrangers.
