Nikki: NOT a wire brush please: a baby's bottle brush might do - check what the bristles are like or some music shops have special bristle brushes on sort of flexible spiral wire "curtain hanger". These may be offered for French horns so a bit narrow for the bigger instruments. Otherwise a pull through with soft rag tied carefully on the end ask anyone who was in the army . . . Use a small weight on the other end to get it thro' Yes I forgot the slide grease, v important, vaseline is just as good. And don't forget around water drain corks and check the cork: the whole fitting is usually quite easy to get off but don't lose the small screw . . . . See my other reply to George.
