If the broadcasters aren't looking hard enough can we, the brass band movement, make their life easier? I should have thought it would be in the recording companies best interests to try to raise the profile of the CDs they have produced, and that it would even be in their own best interests to send a free copy of CDs to broadcasters. How much would it cost a company like Doyen to send a free copy of all their CDs to the BBC? Or is it the responsibility of the recording band to decide upon distribution? Then again, is it down to the audience to write with requests? Perhaps it's a combination of these and more, and perhaps we can't just expect broadcasters to take the initiative and recognise our tastes and preferences. What do others think?
