As I recall, Tony, a cornet player from the Blackley(?) band was the culprit who set us up for what I lovingly call "The Death March". I also owe him, big time, for introducing my wife to good English ale. She used to drink anything that said Lite or Light, etc. Now it's Guinness or Bass or anything with the word "stout" on the label. If it sounds British and it is dark, she will drink it....a LOT of it, if given the opportunity. I came away better only being seduced by fish and chips with mushy peas.
