I use "Encore" all the time for scoring for both brass band, orchestral
score. It is easy to use and once you get the hang of it can score quite
easily. The one big fault (IMHO)is the sound, especially for brass is
not true to type sound; it sounds "tinny". When I write for
trumpet/cornet I set the "voice" on tuba and the pitch up an octave. The
rest of voices aren't bad considering its a midi file format. I found
"Sibelias"to be very pricey for what is wanted.
