This made me smile - for something not to go out of fashion doesn't it have
to already be unfashionable...?

We have coach drivers' uniforms and lion tamers' uniforms (sorry, I mean
walking out and dress uniforms) and in my experience the younger ones don't
actually care much what they are - the real young ones are so proud to be in
uniform at all that I think they would wear fluffy tutus and wellies if they
were band uniform. The rest from early teens up feel the same about the
uniform as the rest of us.... it's a uniform, it's never going to be cool,
and at least we don't have epaulettes. (The less gold stuff, the better.)

You could try band polo shirts/sweat shirts instead of walking out uniforms
and classic orchestral black and white instead of gold braided things. But
then what do you do about park jobs where you want to be smarter than polo
shirts and not as formal as black/white... oh I don't know. Good luck.

I've been no help whatsoever, have I?
