To do that would of course require re-tuning after each carol as the night
progressed. If its December, cold weather and damp, rather a futile task. It's
only the players listening to themselves that can compensate, but only to a
limited extent in those conditions.
Full marks to them - whoever they were - for being there in the first  place.
That's what mattered.
