| Cubbington Ear Biters was commissioned in 2002 by the Cubbington
Silver Band based in Warwickshire, the heart of the English countryside. The
title Cubbington Ear Biters, or CEB as it is often called, comes from an infamous local Warwickshire football match in which a player's ear was bitten
off. The nickname for people from Cubbington is still 'ear biter'.
The piece is a steady march playable by bands of any standard. The theme of
the first section is based around the notes C, E(flat) and B; the trio
features a setting of the Warwickshire folk tune Bumpus O' Stretton.
