Bb bass soloists often feel that their instrument is neglected and that all pieces written for the instrument are comical. Tuba Rag was written to be a piece that breaks this mould.
Although playable by most soloists, through the use of the ragtime style Tuba Rag also appeals to more accomplished players perhaps looking for a lighter item as an encore to a more demanding solo.
