As a conductor I use rubato when I feel it suits the piece. Number 1 in the red hymn book, Aberystwith, is one that suits. I pull this one around a lot. As a player I'm not bothered what the conductor does, I try to be sympathetic and adapt my style to suit.

There is a brass band arrangement called A Grand Day Out. I have played it, but cant rememmber who arranged or published it. If you're desperate I can find out.

Its one theme from Grand Russian Fantasia. I have a recording of Wynton Marsalis playing it, as well as the music. It is triple-tongued on the recording but definitely based on the same melody.
