Bass trombone players often feel that their
instrument is neglected and that all solo pieces written for the instrument are
comical. Lazy Days was written to be a piece that breaks this mould. Although playable by most soloists, through the use of the
slow blues jazz style it
also appeals to more accomplished players. When playing the piece, the picture
you want to paint in the mind's eye of the audience is late in the night in a
smoke-filled Jazz Bar. A slow number is being played by the band of a
trombone, trumpet, piano string bass and drum kit combination.
