| An arrangement for brass band of a chorus from
Edward Elgar's cantata King Olaf.
King Olaf tells the story of the life, battles and eventual death
of a Norse crusader, and is based on the epic poem by H W Longfellow. As
Torrents in Summer appears in the epilogue of the work; an
unaccompanied and soulful final chorus bringing the work to an moving climax.
This arrangement was written for the University of Warwick Brass
Band, and was first performed at a Gala Concert held to celebrate the 40th
anniversary of the University. A easy short number featuring the flugel horn,
this piece is playable by most bands.
This transcription is also available for brass quartet (2 cornets, horn and
euphonium) and brass quintet (2 trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba).
