As Torrents in Summer

Edward Elgar Arr. David Sait

Sample Purchase

An arrangement for brass band of a chorus from Edward Elgar's cantata King Olaf.

King Olaf tells the story of the life, battles and eventual death of a Norse crusader, and is based on the epic poem by H W Longfellow. As Torrents in Summer appears in the epilogue of the work; an unaccompanied and soulful final chorus bringing the work to a moving climax.

This arrangement was written for the University of Warwick Brass Band, and was first performed at a Gala Concert held in 2005 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the University. A easy, short number featuring the flugel horn, this piece is playable by most bands.

This transcription is also available for brass quartet (2 cornets, horn and euphonium) and brass quintet (2 trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba).
