Graham Young (905) 575-8440 Weston Silver Band, Symphony Hamilton Celebration Brass, McMaster Chamber Orchestra gyoung@xxxxxxxx I have just bought a recording of the Yorkshire Building Society Band on the Polyphonic label and am disturbed to find that there is no list of personnel for the band listed. There is five pages of wide spaced fairly large print with the typical record jacket blather. Dear Polyphonic: Some people who buy your recordings are actually interested in the names of the players. Since they are amateurs, perhaps they would like to see their participation accredited. This is especially of interest in North America where we are somewhat "out of touch" with who is playing with which band. Just set the type a little smaller and list the musicians names. It is easy to do you just change the type from 11 point to 9 and add in the names. On jazz recordings the list of personnel is almost always given. This should be required for classical and band recordings as well. how many times have you listened to a recording of an orchestra as wondered who was playing? I think that on Brass Band recordings it should be done as a courtesy to the players. -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserver@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
