Dear Brass Banders, >Nobody is knocking vib when it is used to add to the music in a musical >way. But much brass band vib is simply unmusical and way over the top. >Listen to Phil Smith or James Watson play a cornet and imitate that >level of player. Cornets, trumpets or garden hoses need to sound correct >for what they are playing. Lets make that the criteria. >Regards, Dave. Yes, Dave is right ! Listen to the Salvation Army player en principal trumpet player of the New York Philharmonic, Phil Smith. He has got a very wonderful vibrato (by moving his lower jaw up en down, even on a top f with FF. !!) He has got a very shining tone ! Also James Watson has got a good vibrato. Listen to these great players. And try to imitate them ! Regards, Dani=EBl Rosenquist S.A.
